“Diary in South Africa” — Kristin NG-Yang Solo Exhibition

Graduated from China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Chinese contemporary artist Kristin Ng-Young has been living in South Africa for more than 14 years and now she is studying for a PhD degree at University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

The latest artwork from Kristin is a representation of her diary in South Africa. The techniques of her art creation are vast, including oil paintings, watercolour, installation, charcoal drawing and mono-print. As a migrant artist, it is hard to identify Kristin’s origin, race and nationality from her artwork. Kristin’s artwork is very personal and distinctive. It is a dialogue between the home context and current ‘foreign’ environment. This exhibition continues exploring Kristin’s new concept of abstract and figurative paintings as well as her newest installation of “flying bird and fish”.

毕业于央美的杨桦，现在南非的KwaZulu-Natal大学视觉学院攻读PHD学位。移居南非14年后，杨桦用自己独特的艺术形式如日记般地记录下了她在南非生活的特殊经历。作为一名跨国界的移民艺术家，杨桦艺术创作方式是非常多元化的。她的作品成为了本族文化与南非文化，自己家乡环境与国外环境之间的一种对话。在杨桦的作品中，已经很难辨别出她的国籍和种族。此次展览的作品包括了装置艺术，独版画以及油画。
