Interview with Mia

Where do your inspirations come from for all the paintings?

心里。

They come from my heart.

Why the people in your paintings have no eyes?

It is a way to screen off the distraction of appearance in order to feel what’s true in the heart.

Your artworks depict a wide range of subjects, from opera singers on stage to modern women in cities. With all those series of works, what do you want to express?

In this world, there are men and women. As a woman, I can only observe, feel, digest and respond to all my feelings from a female’s viewpoint.

The title of this exhibition is “Eve’s world”. Does it relate to your religion?

Yes. Admit it or not, the earth has always been Adam and Eve’s world. To live means to fight a war between two. The purpose is to glorify God with love and humility in the process of this war, as well as in other kinds of wars of people. Otherwise, life is meaningless. My works explains a part of the thinking and living-environment of a half of the human race.

Your paintings are about women. Does it relate to your inner world and life experience?

Yes. The personal inner experience is the truest.

What is your plan for future paintings?

I will express my most touching, deep, and faithful feelings, whether it is about the beauty of a tiny flower that blooms and withers in a day, or about taking a long and tiring pilgrimage like a moth flying toward flames.

Your works are more popular among westerners. Do you know why?

Perhaps it’s because my works are communications through the heart, not the eyes.
