AD Magazine’s Story about Shanghai Old Lane House

AD magazine December issue takes us to visit art collector Mr. Li Guangcheng’s private house in Shanghai. This Spanish architecture house with 3 floors built in the 40’s last century is located in the deep lane of Jian Guo Xi Lu, please follow us to check it out!

On the top floor, the LED installation “Moon Eclips Calendar Saros” from French contemporary Duo artists *LLND is in contrast to the rest of traditional Chinese furniture, which makes the whole space looks young and modern.

In their spacious bathroom, Mr.& Mrs Li keep the original ancient wooden floor and hide the toilet into an old cabinet. While stepping in, it looks rather like a part of the living room.

Their bedroom is painted in elegant red colour. When we walked in, the vintage Ralph Lauren bed and the oil painting “Waiting For” by artist Wang Xiaojin caught our eyes. This intimate space gives a warm and charming ambiance.

The Spanish vibrant yellow colour of the exterior walls stands out against other reddish brown brick houses in the lane. Mr. Li enjoys the creative side of renovating the old house and his fondness for old European house greatly impresses us.
