2015 “显山·露水“ 李泽嵩专访 | Interview with Li Zesong

1.这是你在上海举办的第二次个展，这次个展与去年的个展作品比较有何不同？这次个展为什么取名为“显山·露水”？

This is your second solo exhibition in Shanghai, how different is this new exhibition with comparison to your first solo exhibition?

这次展览的作品比上一次相对表达的要更轻松更加的自由吧。这次个展之所以取名为“显山·露水”是因为想要把我国传统的人文情境与人文情怀和当下世界文化艺术语境一体化与本土文化缺失等现象作为反衬影射作用。

Art works from this exhibition are more relaxed and more liberal. This exhibition titled “Beyond Nature”, which reflects the missing of local culture due to the globalization.

2.你这次的作品中除了人物之外还有动物的出现，是否表达了你对自然生态的一种关注？

There are horse, deer and panda appearing in your works, are you concerned about the natural ecology?

“人”本来就是构成自然生态的一种元素，所以，在当下人类生存环境越来越严峻的时候“自然和谐”，“生态和谐”等这是我们大家都必须去思考去关注的问题，我也不例外。

Being one of the components in this chain, human is confronted with a severe issue of co-existence with nature. All of us need to draw attention to this issue.

3.你的作品是对中国传统文化的一种致敬。那你又是如何看待中国的传统与当代艺术之间的关系的？你又是如何通过你的作品去表达和诠释这两者间的关系的？

Your paintings pay the homage to our traditional culture and spirit. How do you see the relation between Chinese traditional culture and contemporary art? How do you use your art works to explain this?

我觉得所谓中国的传统与当代艺术是两个不同的概念，它们不能同一而语，但是放在当下文化语境中它们即有区别但又可相互联系。我一直试图借用中国传统的文人绘画方式，文人哲学思想和西方绘画的方式方法语言语境来诠释两者之间的相互共融关系，从而达到想要表达的“我们活在当下既要尊重传统又要创新当代”的艺术理念。

I think the so called Chinese traditional culture is a very different concept from contemporary art. However, they have certain links in some context. I attempt to use western pictorial language to convey Chinese traditional painting patterns and oriental philosophy. I believe they will be merged well. I would like to bring the idea of creating contemporary art with the respect towards our own traditions in modern times when we are living now.

4.除了油画，你还会用其他的媒介来进行你的艺术创作吗？

Apart from oil on canvas, will you try some other media to create your artworks?

有的，艺术的表现方式有很多种，不一样的材质媒介表现的艺术效果都会不一样。我作为架上绘画艺术家必然会去尝试不一样的绘画方式与方法，这样会让艺术创作的表现域会无限的扩大，而不至于枯竭。所以最近我除了油画外也开始一些纸本设色（水彩）的创作。

Yes, certainly. There are many ways to represent artwork, different media will creates different results. I will try various approaches to expand my art creation. For instance, I tried some water colour paintings in this exhibition.

5.能告诉我们你本人向往什么样的爱情和生活状态？

Could you please tell us what kind of love and life you are looking forward to?

呵呵，我本人应该属于悲观主义者，所以我向往的当然是很美好很自然很单纯的爱情和生活状态了……人的 心境都会往相反面去靠吧。

Hehe, I think I am more pessimistic in real life. So I am always dreaming of a beautiful and pure love. You can see this through my paintings.
